Belluschi Residence/ Marylhurst Pavilion

This historic home, originally built for the Griffith family in 1951, began as a modest 911-square-foot residence. The Griffiths had commissioned the celebrated Northwest architect Pietro Belluschi to design a modern home that balanced innovation with a limited budget — a design that would earn admiration for its regional sensibility and timeless style. Decades later, when plans emerged to demolish the building, Tim Mather, President of MCM Construction Inc., assembled a dedicated team of architects, contractors, and preservationists committed to saving this architectural gem. Working closely with the city, he orchestrated a painstaking process to disassemble the house piece by piece and relocate it. After securing the necessary funding, the team carefully reassembled the home on the Marylhurst University campus, preserving both its design legacy and its story for generations to come.
